Shurangama Mantra 大佛頂首楞嚴咒


Stathāgata-uṣniṣaṃ, Sitātapatraṃ Aparājitaṃ, Pratyaṅgiram Dhāraṇī

 

(1st Assembly)

Namaḥ sarva buddha bodhi-satve-bhyaḥ

Namaḥ saptānāṃ samyak saṃbuddha koṭinaṃ sa-śravaka 

sanghanaṃ

Namo loke arhantānaṃ

Namah srotā pannānāṃ

Namah sakṛ dāgā mināṃ

Nanah anāgā mināṃ

Namo loke samyak gatānāṃ samyak-prati-pannānāṃ

Namo devar ṣī ṇāṃ

Namah siddha-vidyā-dhāra-rṣīṇāṃ śāpānugraha samarthānāṃ

Namo brahmane, 

Namaḥ indràya

Namo bhagavate rudrāya umāpati-sahiyaya

Namo bhagavate nārāyanāya lakṣmi pañca-mahā-mudrā namas

-kṛ-taya

Namo bhagavate mahā-kālāya, tripura-nagara-vidra-paṇa-kārāya

adhi-muk-tika śmaśana-vāsine, mātṛ-gaṇa namas kṛ-taya

Namo bhagavate tathāgataya kulāya

Namo bhagavate padma kulāya

Namo bhagavate vajra kulāya

Namo bhagavate maṇi kulāya

Namo bhagavate gaja kulāya

Namo bhagavate dṛ-dha-śura-sena-pra-haraṇa-rājāya tathāgatāya 

arhate samyak sambuddhāya

Namo bhagavate amitā-bhayā tathāgatāya arhate samyak 

sambuddhāya

Namo bhagavate akṣo-bhyaḥ-ya tathāgatāya arhate samyak 

sambuddhāya

Namo bhagavate bhai-ṣa-jya-guru-vai-ḍurya-prabha-rājāya 

tathāgatāya arhate samyak sambuddhāya

Namo bhagavate saṃ-puṣ-pita-sālendra-rājāya tathāgatāya arhate 

samyak sambuddhāya

Namo bhagavate śakya-munaye tathāgatāya arhate samyak 

sambuddhāya

Namo bhagavate ratna-kusuma-getu-rājāya tathāgatāya arhate 

samyak sambuddhāya

Teṣam namas-kṛ-tva imāṃ bhagavata stathāgata-uṣniṣaṃ 

sitātapatraṃ namo aparājitaṃ pratyaṅgiraṃ

Sarva bhūta-graha ni-graha-karaṇīṃ

Para vidyā cchedaṇīṃ

Akāla mṛ-tyu pari-trāṇa-karīṃ

Sarva bhandana mok-ṣa-nim

Sarva duṣṭa duḥ-svap-na nivā-raṇīṃ

Catura-śītīnam graha saha-srānaṃ vi-dvam-sana-karīṃ

Aṣṭā-viṃ-satinaṃ nak-ṣa-tranaṃ pra-sādana karīṃ

Aṣṭānaṃ mahā grahāṇāṃ vi-dvam-sana-karīṃ

Sarva śa-tru niva-raṇīṃ

Ghoraṃ duḥ-svapnānām ca nā-saṇīṃ

Viṣa śastra agni utta-raṇīṃ

Aparā-jitam mahā-ghorāṃ mahā-balāṃ, mahā-caṇ-dāṃ

mahā-diptāṃ, mahā-tejāṃ, mahā-śve-tāṃ, mahā-jvalāṃ, 

mahā pāṇḍara-vasini

ārya-tārā bhṛ-kuṭīṃ ceva vijaya vajra-maleti-vi-śru-tam

pad-maṃ-kaṃ vajra-jih-va ca mālā ceva aparājita

Vajra daṇ-dim viśālā ca śanta vaideva-pūjitaṃ

Sau-mya-rūpam mahā-śvetā, arya-tara mahā-bala, aparā vajra 

śaṇ-kala ceva, 

vajra gau-mārī kulan-dharī

vajra hastā ca mahā-vidyā kañ-ca-na mālikā, kusuṃbha ratna 

ceva-vairo-canā 

kula-arthānāṃ-uṣniṣa, vi-jrm-bha-mānā ca sava-jra kanaka prabha 

loca-na

vajra tuṇdī ca śvetā ca kama-lā-kṣī śaśi-prabha, it-tye-te mudrā gaṇā

sarve rak-ṣaṃ kur-vantu mama sarva satvā-nām ca.


(2nd Assembly)

Oṃ ṛṣi gaṇa praśa-stāya sarva tathāgata-uṣniṣaya hūm trūm

Jambhana-kara hūm trūm

Stam-bhana-kara hūm trūm

Mohana-kara hūm trūm

Mathana-kara hūm trūm

Para-vidyā saṃ-bhak-ṣaṇa-kara hūm trūm

Sarva duṣṭa-naṃ stambhana-kara hūm trūm

Sarva yakṣa rakṣasa graha-naṃ vi-dvaṃsana-kara hūm trūm

Caatura-śitinaṃ graha saha srāṇāṃ vi-dvaṃsana-kara hūm trūm

Aṣṭā-viṃ-śatīnāṃ nak-śa-trānāṃ pra-sādana-kara hūm trūm

Aṣṭā-naṃ mahā-grahānāṃ utsā-dana-kara hūm trūm

Rakṣa rakṣa maṃ

Bhagavan stathāgata-uṣniṣa, sitāta-patra mahā vajra-uṣniṣa

mahā pratyaṅgire mahā sahasra-bhuje sahasra-śīr-ṣe

koṭī śata sahasra-netre

Abhe-dya jva-litā taṭaka

mahā-vajro-dāra tri-bhuvana maṇḍala

Oṃ sva-stir-bhavatu-māṃ mama

Rāja-bhayā cora-bhayā udaka-bhayā, agni-bhayā, viṣa-bhayā, 

śastra-bhayā, para-cakra-bhayā, dur-bhikṣa-bhayā, aśani-bhayā, 

akāla-mṛtyu-bhayā, dharaṇi-bhumi-kampā-bhayā, ul-ka pāta bhayā, 

rāja daṇḍa-bhayā, suparṇi-bhayā, nāga bhayā, vidyut bhayā

 

Deva-grahā, nāga-grahā, yakṣa-grahā, rakṣasa-grahā, preta-grahā, 

pi-śa-cha grahā, bhūta-grahā

Kum-bhāṇḍa-grahā pūtana-grahā, kaṭa-putana-grahā, skanda-grahā, 

apa-smāra-grahā, ut-māda-grahā

Cchāya-grahā, revatī-grahā, jamika-grahā, kaṇṭha-kamini grahā

 

Ojā-hāriṇyā, garbhā-hāriṇyā, jātā-hāriṇyā, jīvitā-hāriṇyā, 

rudhirā-hāriṇyā, vasā-hāriṇyā, maṃsa-hāriṇyā, medā-hāriṇyā, 

majjā-hāriṇyā, vāntā-hāriṇyā, aśucyā-hāriṇyā, ciccā-hāriṇyā, 

teṣāṃ sarveṣāṃ

 

Sarva grahā-nāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Pari-brajāka kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Ḍāka ḍākinī kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Mahā-paśu-pati rudra kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Nārāyaṇā paṃca mahā mudrā kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Tatva garuḍa sahīyāya kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Mahā-kāla matṛ-gaṇa sahīyāya kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Kāpālika kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Jaya-kara madhukara sarvātha-sādhaka kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ 

cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Catur-bhaginī bhra-tṛ-pañcama sahīyāya kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ 

cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Bhṛṇ-gi-riṭika nandi ke-śva-ra gaṇapati sahīya kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ 

cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Nak-na-śra-maṇa kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Arhanta kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Vīta-rāga kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Vajra-pāṇi gu-hya-ka adhi-pati kṛtāṃ vidyāṃ cchinda-yāmi kīla-yāmi

Asita-anala-arka prabha-sphuṭa vika sitāta-patre

Jvala jvala dhaka-dhaka vidhaka-vidhaka dara dara vidara-vidara, 

cchinda-cchinda, bhinda-bhinda

hūṃ hūṃ phaṭ! phaṭ! svāhā

Hehe phaṭ, amogha phaṭ

Aprati-hata phaṭ, vara-prada phaṭ

Asura vidrā-paka phaṭ

Sarva deve-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Sarva nāge-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Sarva yakṣe-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Sarva rākṣase-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Sarva apa-smā-re-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Sarva śramaṇe-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Sarva tir-thi-ke-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Sarva utmāde-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Sarva vidyā-rāja-ācā-rey-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Jayakara-madhu-kara sarvātha-sādhake-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Sarva vidyā-ācā-rey-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Catur bhaginī-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Vajra gau-mārī kulan-dharī mahā-vidyā-rāje-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Mahā-pratyangire-bhyaḥ phaṭ

Vajra śaṅkalāya phaṭ

Mahā-pratyangira-rājāya phaṭ

Mahā-kālāya mahā-matṛ-gaṇa namas-kṛtāya phaṭ

Veṣṇu-vīye phaṭ

Brahma-ṇīye phaṭ

Ag-ṇīye phaṭ

Mahā kāliye phaṭ

Kālā-daṇḍīye phaṭ

Indrīye phaṭ

Raudrīye phaṭ

Cā-muṇ-ḍīye phaṭ

Kala-rātrīye phaṭ

Kāpālīye phaṭ

Adhi-muktika smaśana vāsi-nīye phaṭ

Yeke-citta satva mama

Duṣṭa-cittā, pāpa-cittā, raudra cittā, vi-dveṣa amaitra-cittā

Utpāda-yanti, kīla-yanti, mantra-yanti, japanti juhvanti

Ojā-hārā garbhā-hārā, rudhirā-hārā, vasā-hārā

Majjā-hārā, jātā-hārā, jīvita-hārā, mālyā-hārā

gandhā-hārā, puṣpa-hārā, phalā-hārā, sasyā-hārā

Papa cittā, duṣṭa cittā, raudra cittā

yakṣa-grahā, rākṣasa-grahā, preta-grahā, piśaca-grahā

bhūta-grahā, kumbhāṇḍa-grahā

skanda-grahā, utmāda-grahā, cchāya-grahā, apa-smā-ra-grahā, 

ḍāka-ḍākinī-grahā

revatī-grahā, jamika-grahā, śakuni-grahā, mantra-nan-dika-grahā

lamvika-grahā, hanu-kaṇṭha-pāṇi-grahā

Jvara ekā-hika dvetī-yaka traitī-yaka catur thanka

Ni-tya-jvara viṣama-jvara vātika paitika, 

śle-ṣmika san-nipatika sarva jvara

Śiror-ti ardha-ava-bhedaka aro-caka

akṣi rogaṃ, nasa-rogaṃ, mukha-rogaṃ, hṝd-rogaṃ gala-grahaṃ

karṇa-śūlam, danta-śūlam, hṛ-daya-śūlam, marma-śūlam

pār-śva-śūlam, pṛṣ-ṭha-śūlam, udara-śūlam, kaṭi-śūlam

vasti-śūlam, ūru-śūlam, 

jaṅ-ghā-śūlam, hasta-śūlam, 

pāda-śūlam, sarvāṅga-pratyaṅga-śūlam

Bhūta vetāḍa ḍāka-ḍākinī jvara

Dadru kāṇḍu kiṭi-bha lūtā vaisarpa-lohaliṅga

sośa trāsa gara viṣa-yoga

agni udaka māra vai-ra kāntāra akala-mṛtyu

Trai-buka trai-laṭaka vṛ-ścika sarpa nakula

siṃha vyā-ghra ṛkṣa tarak-ṣa mṛ-ga

sva-para jīva teṣāṃ sarveṣāṃ

Sitātapatram mahā-vajra-uṣniṣaṃ mahā-pratyaṅgiraṃ

Yāvad dvā-saśa yojana-a-bhyan-tarena

Sīmā-bandhaṁ karomi, diśā-bandhaṁ karomi, 

pāra-vidyā-bandhaṁ karomi, tejo-bandhaṁ karomi, 

hasta-bandhaṁ karomi, pāda-bandhaṁ karomi

sarvāṅga-pratyaṅga-bandhaṁ karomi

 

Tadyatha: 

Oṃ anale anale viśade viśade, vīra vajra-dhare, bandha bandhani

vajra-pāni phaṭ!, hūṃ trūṃ phaṭ!, svāhā


Namaḥ stathāgatāya sugatāya

Arhate samyak-sambuddhāya

Sid-dhyan-tu mantra-pada svāhā



Tips for reading Sanskrit letters:

1. ā ī ū are vowels that you need to prolong the pronunciation

2. ṃ ṇ sound very similar to pronouncing the English alphabet m and n

3. R with a dot below (ṝ) is pronounced similar to "Rik"

4. S with a dot below (Ṣ ṣ) is pronounced similar to "Ch" "ch"

5. S with an ' above (Ś ś) is pronounced similar to "Sh" "sh"

6. T with a dot below (Ṭ ṭ) is pronounced similar to "J" "j"
